CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule and Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC have exchanged political remarks over protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Election Commission’s handling of electoral-roll revision. The disagreement comes amid a wider political debate over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Sule said it was unfortunate that opposition parties had to repeatedly take to the streets over different issues. She said the opposition would continue raising concerns over what it describes as “vote theft” and would participate in a larger protest in Delhi on October 6. Her remarks reflect the political position of her party and opposition groups.

Shaina NC criticised the opposition’s approach to the SIR exercise and questioned the objections being raised against the electoral-roll revision process. She said the revision was being carried out under the Representation of the People Act and argued that the process was intended to update electoral rolls.

Shaina also claimed that names of deceased voters, duplicate entries and people who had shifted locations were being removed from electoral rolls. She made a further claim about millions of allegedly fake names, but that figure was presented as a political assertion and has not been independently established in the report.

The exchange comes as opposition parties in Maharashtra prepare to participate in a larger October 4 protest march announced by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray. NCP-SP and Congress have announced their participation in that march.

The dispute reflects the continuing political debate over the Election Commission, voter-list revision and the SIR process ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
