CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Minister Suresh Gopi, the BJP’s first directly elected Lok Sabha MP from Kerala, has said he would like to step down from his ministerial role to return to acting, citing a drop in his income and family obligations as motivating factors.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the office of C. Sadanandan Master MP in Kannur and stated that he would be pleased if Sadanandan were to succeed him in a ministerial position.

Gopi has in the past expressed a desire not to hold ministerial office, indicating that balancing acting and political responsibilities has been challenging.

He mentioned that his income “has stalled,” and that he has dependents relying on earnings beyond the minister’s salary.

In his remarks, he framed the potential transition as a turning point for Kerala politics.

While no formal resignation has yet been tendered, Gopi’s public statement adds pressure on party leadership to consider a rearrangement. The potential shift will be watched closely for its implications on Kerala’s political dynamics and on how the BJP manages the balance between celebrity politicians and administrative accountability.
