CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Actor Suresh Oberoi has criticised film personalities over the student protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar in connection with the alleged NEET UG paper leak case. He said it is important to have complete information before supporting any movement or issue. According to him, people take celebrities’ statements seriously, and therefore they should be fully aware of the facts while expressing opinions on public issues.
Speaking on a podcast, Suresh Oberoi questioned whether all those who joined the protest were actually NEET students or whether political workers and others were also present among them. He said that if someone does not have complete information about a subject, it is better to clearly say they are not aware of the matter rather than comment on it. He also expressed disagreement with the manner of the agitation.
Suresh Oberoi also objected to some alleged violent incidents linked to the protest. He said there is a way to raise any demand, and throwing stones or attacking the police is not appropriate. He also said that, instead of joining any protest himself, he would prefer to focus on his profession.
The NEET-related agitation had received support from several film personalities. Some artistes reached the protest site, while many reacted through social media. After Suresh Oberoi’s remarks, the debate over the movement, the role of celebrities and expressing opinions on public issues without complete information has intensified again.
