Suryakumar Yadav is set to feature for the Mumbai Indians very soon in IPL 2024. Cricbuzz has learnt that he has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy and he will be with the team on Friday (April 4).

The No.1 ranked T20I batter last played competitive cricket in December 2023, when he scored a hundred in the third T20I against South Africa. However, in that series he had suffered a grade 2 tear of his ankle for which he required surgery.

Suryakumar later underwent an operation for sports hernia, which further delayed his return to cricket as he continued his rehabilitation at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.

The 33-year old will link up with the team in their practice session at the Wankhede stadium as they prepare for their next home game against Delhi Capitals, an afternoon match scheduled on April 7. The team management will take a call on his participation based on how he fares in the net session fitness wise.

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Mumbai Indians this season, having lost three matches on the trot under new skipper Hardik Pandya. Having suffered defeats against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad in home encounters, MI also lost their first home game against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.
