Lord Dhanvantari Jayanti was celebrated with enthusiasm and in a dignified atmosphere at Pt. Khushilal Sharma Government Autonomous Ayurveda College and Institute, Bhopal.
College Principal Dr. Umesh Shukla, senior professors, teachers, students and hospital employees were present at the programme. On the occasion, Lord Dhanvantari was worshipped and the rich tradition of Ayurveda, medical knowledge and the spirit of public welfare were remembered.
In his address, Principal Dr. Umesh Shukla described Lord Dhanvantari as the original proponent of Ayurveda and the first surgeon, underlining his importance in the Indian tradition of surgery.
He laid special emphasis on starting a “Sushruta Lecture Series” at the college to effectively take the contribution of Acharya Sushruta, regarded as the father of surgery, and the principles of surgery to students.
He said such academic activities would help develop students’ interest in classical knowledge and carry forward Ayurveda’s glorious medical tradition.
All professors, teachers, students and hospital staff present at the programme expressed reverence for Lord Dhanvantari and resolved to work with dedication in the fields of Ayurveda promotion and public health.
