On Wednesday morning, his body was found hanging in a rented house in Ramnagar Colony under the Bannadevi police station area. At the time of the incident, his father, Shrichand Tiwari, had gone out of the house to get breakfast. When he returned and saw his son’s body, he fainted. After receiving information, police officials reached the spot and began an investigation.
Sundaram Tiwari was originally a resident of Paraura village in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. About three years ago, he was selected in the Uttar Pradesh Police sub-inspector recruitment. He was currently posted in Aligarh and was living with his father in a rented house.
According to police, a video of Sundaram had gone viral on social media three days earlier. In it, he was allegedly seen under the influence of alcohol outside the Diwani court premises. Taking cognisance of the video, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Aligarh, had suspended him. He was then directed to mark his attendance at the police lines.
According to family members, Sundaram had been upset since the suspension action. His father said that around 8 am on Wednesday, his son had sent him to the market to bring breakfast. When he returned after some time, he found him hanging in the room.
As soon as information about the incident was received, police officials, including the SSP and the SP City, reached the spot. A forensic team collected evidence from the scene. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. Officials said all aspects of the case are being investigated.
