Swami Prasad Maurya has targeted Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over his worship rituals. He described Akhilesh’s religious activities as a “drama” and advised him to learn from his father and Samajwadi Party founder, the late Mulayam Singh Yadav. After Maurya’s statement, the bitterness between the two leaders has once again become a point of discussion in state politics.
Questions raised over Akhilesh’s religious activities
According to an Aaj Tak report, Swami Prasad Maurya commented on Akhilesh Yadav’s worship rituals and questioned his political style. He said Akhilesh should learn from his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav. Maurya’s remarks are being seen as the latest in his continuing political attacks on Akhilesh. Alongside Maurya’s latest statement, speculation about his joining the Congress is also being mentioned. However, according to the available report, Maurya has made no official announcement about joining the Congress. Therefore, these discussions should for now be seen only as speculation.
Political attention will now remain on whether Akhilesh Yadav responds to Maurya’s comment. For the moment, the statement has certainly triggered a fresh discussion in Uttar Pradesh’s electoral politics.
