Ahead of the Diwali festival, an inspection campaign was carried out over food safety in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. Food department teams that arrived from other districts visited various sweet shops and checked the quality of food items. During the drive, samples of several sweets, including khoya and laddoos, were collected. Preparations are being made to send all samples to a laboratory for testing.

In view of the rising demand for sweets during the festive season, the food department is active in efforts to curb adulteration. During the campaign, officials also gathered information related to the quality, cleanliness and preparation of food items kept in the shops. The team collected samples of suspect products and began the process for necessary action.

According to food department officials, the quality of the samples and whether they contain adulteration will become clear only after the laboratory test reports are received. If adulteration or violation of prescribed standards is found in any sample, action will be taken against the shopkeeper concerned as per rules.

The administration’s aim is to ensure that people get safe and quality food products during the festival. Officials have instructed sweet sellers to follow food safety standards.
