CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor, Gurucharan Singh, has finally returned home. The actor, who was missing since April 22, 2024, returned home in Delhi on Friday.
Soon after Singh returned home, he was interrogated by Delhi Police officials following which it was discovered that the actor had left home to be on a religious journey. Police officials say that Singh visited Gurudwaras in many cities like Amritsar and Ludhiana ever since he was reported “missing”. However, he later realised that he should return home.
Gurucharan Singh was last seen on April 22, 2024. Even though he was supposed to take a flight from Delhi to Mumbai but never reached the airport in the national capital. Singh’s father filed a missing complaint four days later which stated, “My son Gurucharan Singh, Age: 50 years, had left at 8:30 am on 22nd April to go to Mumbai. He went to the airport to catch a flight. He didn’t reach Mumbai, neither has he returned home and his phone is not reachable. He is mentally stable and we had been searching for him but now he has been missing.”
Later, Delhi police stepped into action and took all possible measures to find Gurucharan Singh. Last week, News18 Showsha exclusively learnt that a team of police officials even visited the sets of TMKOC and questioned Singh’s former co-stars. “This week Delhi police visited our sets and spoke with the actors who were in touch with Gurucharan Singh. Everyone has co-operated well with the police,” a source close to the show’s production told us.
“Also, there were some rumours related to Gurucharan Singh’s payments being due from the production house. But, the police found that the payment of the actor was cleared long ago,” the insider added.
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
There were speculations that Gurucharan Singh exited the show due to delays in his payment, however, the actor had remained tight-lipped on the issue. “Hum pyaar mohabbat se aage badhna pasand karna chahte hain (I want to move forward with love and respect.). There are some other reasons I don’t want to talk about,” he had said.
