Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, welcomed representatives from Russia and Sri Lanka. On this occasion, the Hindi literature scholar Shweta Singh from Russia, senior Hindi professor Nilanthi Rajpakse from Sri Lanka, and research scholar Sugandhi Kulsinghe were cordially felicitated.
Shweta Singh appreciated the university’s global-level initiatives in preserving and promoting Hindi, other Indian languages, and local dialects, along with contributions to Indian culture, literature, and arts, describing these efforts as unique and exemplary.
Nilanthi Rajpakse said that having a close look at the university’s environment and its published works was an unforgettable experience. She added that she would try to engage Sri Lankan students through online courses dedicated to Indian culture.
Sugandhi Kulsinghe described the university as providing an experience akin to Shantiniketan in central India.

During the visit, the representatives toured several departments, including the Tagore International Hindi Center, World Rang Foundation, Overseas Indian Literature & Culture Research Center, Tagore World Art & Culture Center, Tagore National Theatre School, Sanskrit and Oriental Language Teaching Center, and the Translation Center. They engaged in creative discussions with students and faculty.
Senior officials present included Sangeeta Johri, Registrar; Jawahar Karnawat, Advisor; Ruchi Mishra Tiwari, Dean of Humanities and Liberal Arts; Vinay Upadhyay, Director of Tagore World Art & Culture Center; and Vikas Awasthi, CEO of World Rang Foundation. The guests also had meaningful interactions with students of the Tagore National Theatre School.
The university presented the guests with a collection of literature showcasing Hindi, Russian, and Sri Lankan works, including publications such as Rang Samvad, Vanmali Katha, Vanmali Varta, Vishwa Rang Samvad, Anunaad, and Safah par Awaaz, representing the global Rang literature.
The event conveyed a strong message about the university’s contribution to promoting the Hindi language and Indian culture at the international level.
