CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed a major uproar on Tuesday after DMK legislators protested against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s remarks referring to Enforcement Directorate (ED) documents and alleged corruption involving the previous DMK government. The DMK members demanded that the controversial portions of Vijay’s speech be removed from the official Assembly records. However, Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar rejected their demand, stating that the information cited by the Chief Minister was already in the public domain.
Following the Speaker’s decision, DMK MLAs intensified their protest, raised slogans and gathered around the Speaker’s podium. As the disruption continued, the Speaker directed Assembly marshals to remove the protesting legislators from the House. The incident led to heated exchanges between the ruling benches and the opposition, highlighting the growing political confrontation between Vijay’s TVK government and the DMK.
The controversy follows Vijay’s earlier Assembly speech in which he targeted successive generations of DMK leadership and referred to the Sarkaria Commission as well as ED-related material while making corruption allegations. DMK leaders have strongly objected to the remarks, arguing that the Chief Minister was using the Assembly to make political allegations.
The latest confrontation has further intensified the political battle in Tamil Nadu and raised questions over legislative decorum, accountability and the use of investigative agency records during Assembly debates.
