Twenty-one pilgrims from Tamil Nadu have returned from Nepal and reached Chennai. The travellers were brought back to India after being safely evacuated from flood-affected areas.
Continuous heavy rain in Nepal had triggered flash floods and landslides in several areas. Many road routes were affected, leaving a large number of tourists and pilgrims stranded at different locations. Relief and rescue operations were carried out by the Indian Embassy and the local administration to ensure the safe return of Indian citizens.
The passengers who reached Chennai shared details of the difficult conditions that had developed in Nepal. Their return has brought relief to their families. The Tamil Nadu government is also in touch with the authorities concerned to gather information about other citizens of the state stranded in Nepal and to ensure their safe return.
Relief and rescue operations are continuing in Nepal after the flash floods. The Government of India is also coordinating with Nepal and monitoring assistance and safe evacuation efforts for Indian citizens present there.
The safe return of the 21 pilgrims comes at a time when normal life has been affected by the natural disaster in several parts of Nepal.
