CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The event Anuttara – Craft Bazaar 2026 was organized in Bhopal as a vibrant celebration of traditional Indian crafts and artisan communities. Hosted as Artisan Awareness Week at the NIFT Bhopal campus, the public exhibition and sale were held at Gauhar Mahal.

The program was inaugurated by Akhil Sahay, Director of NIFT Bhopal. The chief guest, Ajay K. Bhattacharya, IFS (Retd.), highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between artisans and young designers. During the inaugural ceremony, 66 artisans were introduced from regions including Jaipur–Sanganer, Chanderi, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Neemuch, Indore, Ujjain, Banaras, Maheshwar, and Khajuraho.

During Artisan Awareness Week, the first day focused on market awareness and government schemes. The second day provided artisans with opportunities for professional advancement through technical skill enhancement sessions and live demonstrations. On the third day, a workshop on photography and digital product documentation was conducted to help artisans showcase their products on digital platforms. Students and artisans gained hands-on experience by directly learning traditional techniques.

At the Craft Bazaar held at Gauhar Mahal, a total of 44 stalls were set up. The inauguration was graced by chief guest Sonali Ponkshe Vayanganakar, IAS, who encouraged students to preserve cultural values while embracing modernity. Students presented a fashion walk featuring traditional textiles and jewelry, including Chanderi and Banarasi sarees, as well as tie-dye ensembles.

During the program, State Award-winning bamboo craftsman Dharmendra Rohar and block-printing expert Rajkumar Pandey provided training and guidance to students on craft techniques. Visitors explored the stalls, interacted with artisans, and supported their work.

Anuttara – Craft Bazaar 2026 positioned NIFT Bhopal as a bridge between traditional knowledge and contemporary design. The initiative strengthened the institute’s commitment to preserving craft traditions, promoting education, and encouraging community engagement, while keeping India’s rich craft heritage alive for future generations.
