A 17-year-old girl in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, climbed a high-tension power tower after becoming upset over being scolded by her family. As soon as information about the incident spread, there was panic in the area. Police personnel reached the spot and, after considerable effort, brought the girl down safely.
According to information, the girl had been scolded at home over speaking to a boy on her mobile phone. Upset by this, she left the house and climbed a nearby power tower. Seeing the girl on the tower, a crowd of local people gathered. They immediately informed the police.
After receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and began trying to counsel the girl. After a prolonged effort to persuade her, police personnel brought her down safely. It was a matter of relief that the girl was not harmed in the incident.
Police spoke to the girl and her family members to gather information about the circumstances behind the incident. The matter also highlighted the need for dialogue with children in families and for understanding their emotions.
