Telangana Eyes Major Logistics Hub Status Soon

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Telangana is rapidly emerging as one of India’s most promising logistics destinations, backed by strategic infrastructure investments, progressive policies, and a long-term vision for economic growth. State Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu recently highlighted the government's efforts to transform Telangana into a major logistics hub capable of attracting domestic and global investments.

Speaking at an international conference on shipping and logistics, the minister emphasized that logistics has become the backbone of modern economic development, connecting industries, farmers, businesses, and markets. Despite being a landlocked state, Telangana has leveraged its central location, multimodal connectivity, and investor-friendly policies to strengthen its position in the logistics sector.

Key initiatives driving this transformation include the implementation of Logistics Policy 2.0, expansion of air cargo infrastructure, development of the Mega Multimodal Logistics Park at Manoharabad, proposed dry ports, logistics parks, rail-linked infrastructure, and improvements in road connectivity. The government is also encouraging investments in warehousing, cold-chain networks, automation, digital logistics platforms, and green mobility solutions.

According to the minister, Telangana currently contributes nearly five percent to India’s GDP and has recorded strong export growth in recent years. The state aims to further strengthen its logistics ecosystem as part of its broader “Telangana Rising 2047” vision, which seeks to position Telangana among the country’s leading economic and industrial centers.

Officials believe that continued investments in infrastructure, technology, and workforce development will help Telangana emerge as a nationally significant logistics and supply-chain hub, boosting trade, employment, and sustainable economic growth in the years ahead.
