CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Urdu and Hindi are like two sisters, evolving side by side. We have preserved all the hues of Urdu in these ten books by ten poets from Bhopal. Themes of love, affection, progressiveness, and satire have been documented in book form through Urdu ghazals. We believe that literature in Hindi, Urdu, and all Indian languages can stand on par with literature in other languages. It is our responsibility to respect and preserve literature written in all the languages of the country. Urdu is one such language in which very significant literary works have been created. Especially, Urdu poetry is a medium through which the younger generation can be connected to this language.

These thoughts were expressed by Santosh Chaubey, Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University and Director of Vishw Rang, while addressing the book launch ceremony of “Ten Books by Ten Poets of Bhopal” as the Chief Guest at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, Bhopal.

Presiding over the ceremony, senior Hindi-Urdu litterateur Janaki Prasad Sharma said that Bhopal has historically been a center of Urdu literature, traces of which are still visible today. Poetry from Bhopal is heard and read with significance across the country. The ten poets whose books were launched today hold an important place in Urdu poetry. I congratulate ISECT Publications and Mr. Santosh Chaubey for this work.

Notably, ISECT Publications has published the poetry of ten senior poets of Bhopal in Devanagari script. These include Basit Bhopali, Sheri Bhopali, Taj Bhopali, Kaif Bhopali, Asad Bhopali, Sahir Bhopali, Akhtar Saeed Khan, Sajid Sajni, G.M. Nagmi, and Shakeela Bano Bhopali.

Senior poet and co-director of Vishw Rang, Liladhar Mandloi, as a distinguished guest, said that poetry does not speak only of its own time but also of the times to come. Anyone can borrow or copy in writing, but creating one’s own work is a remarkable achievement. These ten poets of Bhopal have created their own original contributions through their poetry. The books launched today signify a renaissance of Bhopal’s poetry. Through these books, this poetry will reach beyond borders once again.

Director of the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy, Nusrat Mehdi, said that the arrival of these ten books by Bhopal’s poets is a very important step for Urdu poetry. Hindi and Urdu have a shared existence and always will. While many talk about coexistence, very few actively work toward it. Santosh Chaubey has done significant work in building a bridge between languages.

After the launch, senior Urdu litterateurs including Iqbal Masood, Dr. Nusrat Mehdi, poet Dr. Parveen Kaif, writer Rafi Shabbir, and Badr Vasti discussed the books and poets, presenting their poetry. At the beginning of the program, Ms. Jyoti Raghuvanshi, Manager of ISECT Publications and National Coordinator of Vanmali Srijan Peeth, delivered the welcome address, and senior manager Maheep Nigam of ISECT Publications expressed gratitude to the guests at the conclusion. The event was attended by a large number of Hindi-Urdu writers and literature enthusiasts.
