CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies: The scheme to conduct eye examinations of schoolchildren in Chhattisgarh and provide spectacles to students in need appears to have been affected. After the tender process issued for the purchase of spectacles was not successful, the scope of children’s examinations was also restricted. It is alleged that, with the objective of reducing targets, eye examinations of children in private schools have also been stopped.

Under this arrangement, the vision of school students was to be checked and spectacles were to be provided to them as required. However, because the tender process could not be completed, a problem arose over the availability of spectacles. After this, the screening campaign was also affected and screening of children studying in private schools was stopped.

If children’s eyes are not examined on time, identification of vision-related problems may be delayed. Students who need spectacles during studies may face particular difficulty.
