Mumbai. Political activity has intensified within Maharashtra’s ruling Mahayuti alliance after the results of the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. After the expected results were not achieved on some seats, discussions have emerged over differences between the BJP and the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has issued certain organisational instructions to his party’s Shiv Sainiks and office-bearers.

The instructions issued by Shinde after the election results are being seen as an exercise to strengthen the party organisation and keep workers active. It is believed that the party leadership wants to remain alert about upcoming political activities and the organisation’s role at the local level.

After the election results, there has been discussion within the alliance about the political equations between the BJP and its allies on some seats during the Legislative Council elections. Following the results, questions have begun to be raised within the alliance over responsibility and electoral strategy. However, no formal split in the Mahayuti or announcement of the end of the alliance has been made.

Shinde’s focus on the organisation is likely to bring attention to the activities of Shiv Sena office-bearers and workers after his instructions. At the party level, priority may be given to strengthening the organisation, maintaining communication with workers and preparing for upcoming political programmes.

For now, detailed information is still awaited on the precise points of these instructions and the official position on differences within the alliance. In this situation, political circles continue to watch the forthcoming meetings among Mahayuti constituents and the statements of leaders after the election results.
