CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: With the commencement of “Swachhata Pakhwada” (Cleanliness Fortnight) at AIIMS Bhopal, a program was organized where homage was paid to Mahatma Gandhi by offering floral tributes, recalling his efforts towards cleanliness. Ajay Singh, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, remarked that cleanliness is not only important for the surroundings but also for the mind and body. He emphasized that it leads to spiritual attainment and hence, cleanliness should be given top priority. He administered the cleanliness pledge to all present, urging everyone to focus on personal hygiene and environmental conservation. Stressing on reducing plastic usage, he emphasized the need to raise awareness so that minimal plastic is used in homes, offices, or other places.

Professor Singh led a voluntary service initiative during this event, which saw the participation of a large number of officials, employees, association members, nursing officers, engineers, and members from various departments. This Cleanliness Fortnight, which runs until April 15th, aims to make AIIMS clean, plastic-free, and healthy, inspired by the national initiative of Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat (Clean India, Healthy India).
