CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Central Sanskrit University organized a Sanskrit Week Festival in Bhopal. The week included various events such as Sanskrit speech, shloka recitation, Dhaturupa recitation, and Bhagavad Gita recitation competitions, in which numerous students from schools and colleges in Bhopal participated.
As part of the celebrations, an All-India Young Sanskrit Poets’ Gathering was held, featuring young Sanskrit poets from across India. On the day of Shravan, the faculty and students of the campus performed the Shravan Upakarma at Sheetaldas Ki Bagiya.
This festival was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Srinivas Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The closing session’s chief guest was Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, former Vice-Chancellor of the National Sanskrit Institute, New Delhi. The Saraswat guest was Prof. Vaidyanath Labh, Vice-Chancellor of Sanchi Buddhist Indian Studies University, Sanchi, and the special guest was Shri Rishi Kumar Shukla, former Director of CBI, Government of India. The session was presided over by the campus director, Prof. Ramakant Pandey.
In his address, the chief guest, Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, emphasized that Sanskrit is not just a language but a mirror of life. He stated that India’s culture can only be preserved through the Sanskrit language. Saraswat guest Prof. Vaidyanath Labh remarked that research on various aspects of Sanskrit is conducted at our university and that even in these challenging times, the flag of Sanskrit is being carried forward. He assured that our culture and Sanskrit’s position will never weaken; our culture is strong.
Special guest Rishi Kumar Shukla mentioned that Sanskrit has a unique identity in the world. He believed that the campus has connected the general public through its week-long programs, and encouraged everyone to promote the Sanskrit language. Presiding over the closing session, campus director Prof. Ramakant Pandey stressed that students should take the lead in spreading Sanskrit. One of our goals should be to bring the Sanskrit language to the masses.
On this occasion, distinguished educators who have contributed to the advancement of Sanskrit were honored with special recognition. These included Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, Prof. Vaidyanath Labh, Rishi Kumar Shukla, Prof. Urmila Shukla, Dr. Hemchand Pandey, Dr. Akshaylal, and Umashankar Nagaich.
The campus also awarded the Sanskrit Bhushan honor to scholars such as Dr. Upendra Bhargava, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Jain, Dr. Rahul Sharma, Dr. Rajni V. G., and Pratap. The students who won the competitions were also awarded.
The report on the Sanskrit Week Festival was presented by Dr. Dataram Pathak. The guests were verbally welcomed by Prof. Somanath Sahu, and the vote of thanks was given by Prof. Sanandan Kumar Tripathi. The program was conducted by Dr. Ragini Sharma.
