CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India Press / ITDC News Bhopal: People have often heard or seen about awakening the crematorium through reading, listening, or tantric practices, but it would be surprising if a minister were to illuminate the cremation ground with lamps a day before Diwali. Such a unique example was witnessed in the Chambal region at the crematorium (mashan) in the town of Gormi.
On Wednesday, while the entire country celebrated Roop Chaturdashi/Narak Chaturdashi, or Chhoti Diwali, in a grand manner, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Rakesh Shukla celebrated Diwali by awakening the crematorium in a different way. Minister Rakesh Shukla visited the crematorium (Muktidham) in Gormi on Wednesday evening and surprised everyone with the “One Lamp in Memory of Our Ancestors” program. He, along with his companions and workers, reached the Muktidham and lit lamps throughout the area, effectively “awakening” the crematorium.
Minister Rakesh Shukla stated that while festivals have their significance, the place where a person goes after their final farewell is the Muktidham (crematorium). Therefore, he believes that “everyone should light a lamp in memory of their ancestors so that the light ignited from this sacred ground brings new happiness into our lives.”
