CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New services under the Siddha medical system were inaugurated at the AYUSH Department of AIIMS. On this occasion, AIIMS Executive Director Prof. Ajay Singh stated, “The Siddha medical system is an ancient practice that is highly effective in treating chronic diseases while also promoting overall health and wellness. The introduction of Siddha medicine at AIIMS will provide patients with a new and comprehensive treatment option. We believe that the integration of Siddha medicine with modern medical practices will offer patients better and more precise treatment.”

Under the Siddha medical system at AIIMS, both outpatient and inpatient departments will offer wellness services, including traditional therapies such as Varmam Maruthuvam (pressure manipulation therapy). This system is particularly suitable for treating neurological disorders, arthritis, skin diseases, kidney stones, UTIs, respiratory diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases.

The Siddha medical system encompasses various branches such as general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and dietetics. It also employs diagnostic tools like pulse reading, urine analysis, and other clinical methods. New treatment procedures introduced include Thokkanam, Varmam, Otradam, Vedhu, and Yoga, which have proven particularly effective in treating complex conditions like cervical spondylosis and paraplegia.

Prof. Ajay Singh emphasized that the aim of this new initiative by the AYUSH Department is to take a significant step forward in holistic healthcare and to ensure that patients receive scientific and effective treatment.
