CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “The eighth meeting of the State Higher Education Council (SHEC) was held in the conference hall at the ministry under the chairmanship of Higher Education, Technical Education, and AYUSH Minister Inder Singh Parmar. In this meeting, a total of ₹565 crore (₹339 crore from the central government and ₹226 crore from the state government) was approved for various components (MERU, GSU, GSC, and GIEI) of the Prime Minister’s Higher Education Campaign (PM-USHA). It was decided to form a committee to enhance the implementation and effectiveness of the council in accordance with the standards of the Government of India.
Higher Education Minister Parmar emphasized the importance of holding regular meetings of the State Higher Education Council and ensuring its comprehensiveness through extensive deliberation in line with the Government of India’s standards. He stated that transparent decisions by the council, in compliance with the National Education Policy 2020, would lead to better implementation in the higher education sector. The Prime Minister’s Higher Education Campaign (PM-USHA) is a milestone in the development of higher education in the state. Efforts by both the central and state governments aim to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio, providing opportunities for youth in education.
Mr. Parmar urged universities in the state to focus on research and development under PM-USHA and allocate the maximum amount of received funds in the prescribed ratio. He also emphasized ensuring that advanced resources like laboratories under PM-USHA are shared with students from other universities and institutions. He instructed the project directorate to complete the work under PM-USHA within the stipulated timeframe and with departmental coordination, providing necessary support for quality improvement. Parmar stated that education is not only the responsibility of the government but also of society. Therefore, public participation and meaningful engagement of alumni should be encouraged.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education K.C. Gupta, Secretary of Technical Education Sanjay Goyal, Commissioner of Higher Education Nishant Barwade, vice-chancellors of various universities, and council members.”
