CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The premier central institute, Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) in Bhopal, has welcomed 200 new students into its flagship MBA programs in Forestry Management and Sustainability Management for the new academic session 2024-26. This group of emerging green managers represents 22 regions (states and union territories) across the country, with students from diverse backgrounds in engineering, science, commerce, and arts, notably maintaining gender balance with 40% female students.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Aseem Srivastava, PCCF & HoFF of Madhya Pradesh, as the chief guest. Distinguished alumni Mr. Rajaram Shankar, Mr. Nikesh Kumar Sinha, and Prof. R. Srinivasan were also present as special guests.
In his inaugural speech, IIFM Director K. Ravichandran said, “In the next two years, when you graduate, you will be among the most sought-after professionals in the country. This two-year program enhances students’ practical, functional, and domain expertise.” Highlighting the course structure, Dr. Ravichandran added, “After these two years, you will emerge as professionals with deep understanding, analytical capabilities, and creativity.”
To mark and commemorate this special day, the new students planted trees under India’s “Mission Life” initiative and the “#One_Tree_for_Mother” #Plant4Mother campaign, leaving their green footprints as part of the IIFM family.
During this fortnightly program, scholars from the fields of environment, climate change, sustainability, development, corporate, business, banking, non-banking finance, and consulting sectors will interact with the new students. This will provide students with an opportunity to learn about various fields, orient them towards emerging professional opportunities, and assist them in their academic pursuits at IIFM over the next two years.
Additionally, the future green managers will be introduced to the rich biodiversity and natural heritage of Madhya Pradesh through field visits to the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve and Bhimbetka.
