CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “In the world, the oldest and richest Indian knowledge tradition is present. America and Britain do not have any original knowledge tradition of their own. The concept of universities has evolved from India.

In modern contexts, the Indian knowledge tradition is for the welfare of every creature and the entire world. It encompasses morality and prosperity together. In his keynote address, Dr. A.D.N. Vajpayee, Chancellor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, and Ritu Tiwari, Head of the Economics Department at Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, Maharashtra, expressed this view.

A one-day national webinar on ‘Indian Knowledge Tradition in Modern Context’ was organized by Babulal Gaur Postgraduate College, BHEL, Bhopal, sponsored by the Government of Madhya Pradesh and organized by the Economics Department of the college. Webinar coordinator Samta Jain stated that in his keynote address, Dr. A.D.N. Vajpayee, Chancellor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur, emphasized that the oldest and richest Indian knowledge tradition in the world is from India,

and America and Britain do not have any original knowledge tradition of their own. India has always been the center of knowledge acquisition, and the concept of universities has evolved from India. People used to come from all over the world to study in Nalanda. The British disrupted our education system. Today, it is necessary that our education system assists India in becoming a global superpower. The National Education Policy 2020 is playing an active role in this direction.

Students should have a direct connection with society, and the tradition of carrying out responsibilities with inspiration should be developed in everyone. Our Vedas and Puranas are still relevant today, providing the courage to face every challenge in life. In the upcoming session, English Head of Department Ilarani Srivastava will introduce Ritu Tiwari, Head of the Economics Department at Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, Maharashtra, as the subject expert. Ritu Tiwari, in her introduction, stated that the Indian knowledge tradition has always been for

the welfare of the entire world, honoring all living beings and embodying the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which includes morality and prosperity along with the vision of one family, one nation, one earth. What is ours belongs to everyone. In modern times, economists should evaluate these principles. She connected economics with the holistic approach of Chanakya’s Arthashastra and emphasized that even if inclusive growth occurs today, no country’s growth is sustainable without the development that can be achieved through donations in temples.

She talked about New York as an example, showing that development cannot be achieved through freebies. The webinar began with Principal Sanjay Jain welcoming Chancellor A.D.N. Vajpayee and Ritu Tiwari, acknowledging the college’s fortune in having the opportunity to learn about Indian knowledge tradition from national and international scholars. Department Head Seema Srivastava and Prof. Pratibha Deharia provided an introduction to the college and the Economics Department. Meeta Badal expressed her gratitude. During this event, selected researchers presented their research papers.”
