CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of National Public Relations Day at the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, a special lecture on the subject of Government PR in the Digital Age was organized. The lecture, chaired by the President of the University, Mr. G. Suresh, was held in the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium by the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. As the keynote speaker, Mr. Prashant Patharbe, the Deputy Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), expressed his views.

President Suresh said that PR is very close to his heart. He said that journalism cannot exist without public relations. Prof. Suresh mentioned that there have been significant changes in PR in recent years. He said that significant changes are being observed not only at the urban level but also at the rural level. He emphasized the importance of PR and advocated training for it. He also shared his thoughts on social media influencers. Speaking about digital media, he mentioned that whether it’s radio, television, or newspapers, digital media brings us news first. He discussed the digital age and digital media. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with journalists.

Mr. Prashant Patharbe, the Deputy Director General and keynote speaker of the PIB, highlighted the importance of trustworthiness and honesty for PR. He said that whatever the institution is, if there is any problem, it has to be handled through PR. He also mentioned that in the coming days, everything will change because of AI. He said that this will shake the eco-system. He also emphasized the need to be present on social media in the present time. He also mentioned the importance of having a good command of English for PR personnel. Mr. Prashant shed light on the merits and demerits of AI. He also expressed his views on fake news and fake videos. At the end of the lecture, the departmental newspaper was released by President Prof. G. Suresh. The head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Pavitra Shrivastava, expressed his gratitude. Various department heads, teachers, employees, and officers were present at the event, specially invited by Secretary Avinash Vajpayee
