CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sant Hirdaram Girls College played a significant role in the formal observance of World AIDS Day in Bhopal. Held at the historic Gauhar Mahal, this important program aimed to raise global awareness about the AIDS epidemic caused by HIV infection.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the state’s senior officials—Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and State Minister Rajendra Shivaji Patel. Their presence highlighted the government’s strong support for critical public health campaigns.
The college’s NSS volunteers delivered a compelling presentation. Their speeches emphasized the key pillars of the awareness campaign: HIV/AIDS prevention, the importance of building a stigma-free society, and the collective responsibility necessary for sustained support and eradication efforts.

To further strengthen the awareness message among students, Sant Hirdaram Girls College organized supplementary internal activities. These included competitive events such as rangoli and speech competitions, aimed at promoting active participation and a deeper understanding of the subject among students.
The initiative received appreciation from both academic and health sectors. Dr. Dalima Parwani, Principal of SHGC, praised the comprehensive nature of the event and noted that it effectively motivated young people toward an important public health goal.
The overall success of the day reinforced the continuing need for education and compassionate action to address HIV/AIDS.
