CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Miyana Railway Station of West Central Railway has been honored with the National Energy Conservation Award (NECA) 2025 for its outstanding achievements in energy conservation. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, and was received by Shobhana Bandopadhyay, General Manager, West Central Railway.
This prestigious award is conferred by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, recognizing exemplary efforts in energy conservation, adoption of innovative technologies, effective energy management, and sustainable development at the national level. The award is granted only after a rigorous evaluation process, verification of energy savings, and detailed scrutiny of technical documentation, which further enhances its credibility and significance.
Miyana Railway Station of the Bhopal Division achieved this distinction through the successful implementation of LED-based energy-efficient lighting systems, installation of BLDC fans, and the operation of smart lighting circuits with 30–70% control, resulting in annual electricity savings of over 10,000 units.
Congratulating the team, Shobhana Bandopadhyay, General Manager, West Central Railway, stated that this proud moment marks a historic achievement for West Central Railway. She appreciated the efforts of the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer at Headquarters, the Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal, and all officers and staff at both the divisional and headquarters levels for Miyana Station receiving the National Energy Conservation Award (NECA 2025) from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
This achievement was made possible through the technical guidance and continuous monitoring of Sanjay Manoriya, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (General), Electrical (General) Department, Bhopal Division. Under his leadership, the entire Electrical (General) Department team ensured the effective and timely execution of all energy conservation projects.
The department undertook several key initiatives, including regular energy audits, scientific load analysis of power consumption, station-wise energy profiling, training programs and awareness campaigns to enhance energy consciousness among staff, and phased implementation of energy-efficient technologies.
Additionally, the visionary leadership, policy support, and encouragement of innovative measures by Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi provided unprecedented momentum to the division’s energy efficiency improvement योजनas. These collective efforts ultimately led to Miyana Railway Station being honored with this prestigious national-level award.
