CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Jitu Patwari, President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, expressed his concerns about the plight of primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools in the state. He stated that there are thousands of schools in Madhya Pradesh where the roofs are leaking due to rain. Schools are flooded with water, leading to a complete breakdown of the education system across the state. Moreover, 90% of children in thousands of schools in MP are not attending school, and the remaining 10% who manage to attend are forced to study under sheds due to a lack of proper classrooms. In some schools, multiple classes are conducted in a single room.

Patwari mentioned that in Narasinghpur district, the roof of a CM Rise School collapsed due to the rain, injuring 10 children. This situation is not limited to Narasinghpur but is prevalent in various districts of the state where school roofs are dilapidated and 7,500 school buildings are in disrepair, posing a constant risk of accidents for the children. However, the government, preoccupied with acquiring comforts and amenities, is not paying attention to these schools.

Patwari further pointed out that in 38 districts of the state, including Chhindwara, Damoh, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar, Shivpuri, Ujjain, and Vidisha, there are 355 schools with teachers in place but no students. There are over 50,000 vacant teaching positions in MP, and 2,621 schools have no teachers at all. Additionally, many high secondary schools in MP lack teachers for subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English Literature, and 15,500 schools have only one teacher.”
