CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Vice-Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari extended New Year greetings on the occasion of the English calendar New Year to the city’s first citizen, Mayor Malti Rai. In a letter addressed to the Mayor, he expressed hope that under her sensitive leadership in the New Year, Bhopal would emerge as a model city across the country with an excellent public transport network, and that its roads, markets, footpaths, lakes, and hills would be freed from the curse of encroachment.
He pointed out that not a single bus is available from anywhere in the city to reach Asia’s first and India’s largest media university. The university hosts around 2,000 students from 20 states, who are future journalists, editors, and anchors. Recently, journalism students published a special edition of their practical newspaper Vikalp focused entirely on the public transport system, with the intention of drawing the attention of public representatives and officials to the issue.
The Vice-Chancellor wrote that the senior officials appointed in the public transport system must have been selected on the basis of their experience, competence, and vision, and that they would certainly be taking steps in this direction, the results of which should become visible in the New Year. However, according to the journalistic teachings of Dada Makhanlal Chaturvedi, only tangible evidence can be considered the true basis—and such evidence is currently lacking in the field of public transportation.
