CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A very encouraging program was organized on the occasion of “World Environment Day” in Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University. The theme of the program was “Land Reforms, Desertification and Drought Resilience”. The program was organized in the auditorium of the university. On this occasion, retired Ramesh Srivastava, Chief Forest Department Officer, M.P. was the keynote speaker. The government was present.
Also, Mr. Ishaan Lakhina and Mrs. Trupti Shukla, Founder, Happy Plant Project, Bhopal were also present as chief guests.
The program was presided over by Sanjay Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University and Sushil Manderia was present as the coordinator of the program.
On this occasion, a resolution was taken for environmental protection and an activity “Seed Ball” was also organized in which all the guests and officers and employees of the university participated enthusiastically. In this, the seeds were formed into balls of clay and pressed. When monsoon arrives, these balls will be sown in the ground.
While introducing the theme in the program, Anita Kaushal, Director of Internal Quality and Assurance Department, welcomed all the guests present and gave her views on World Environment Day.
The keynote speaker of the program, retired Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Ramesh Kumar Srivastava said that we have to make proper use of our resources for environmental protection. The ozone layer was being depleted,
But due to the tireless efforts being made in the world, it is being improved. Special guest Ishan Lakhina present in the program said that instead of planting saplings, it would be a great thing if we save the currently planted saplings. Every year, two crore saplings are cut in Madhya Pradesh and about 2 lakh are planted, which is not enough.
Presiding over the program, Vice Chancellor of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Sanjay Tiwari said that in the last 15 days, due to the increased temperature around us, we have realized what is climate change? Various types of animals and birds are dying. But their death is not their fault. Man is responsible for their death. Because the cause of climate change is not wild animals, but humans.
Dr. Tiwari said that today instead of global warming, global boiling has started. Today, 38 billion tons of carbon dioxide is emitted every year in the world. Carbon emissions are increasing rapidly due to industrialization. The temperature of the earth is increasing year by year.
Expressing his gratitude in the program, Dr. Sushil Manderia, Registrar of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, said that World Environment Day is being celebrated since 1973. He expressed concern over the fact that desertification is increasing rapidly in Rajasthan, India. This process has even reached some parts of Madhya Pradesh via Rajasthan.
He said that due to drought, desertification is taking place in the upper surface of the earth. Excessive rainfall and extreme drought are the results of climate change. He said that while planting trees, we have to keep in mind that we should plant only those plants which are local plants which can flourish in the climate there.
On this occasion, the stage was moderated by Sadhna Singh Bisen, Senior Advisor of the University. Teachers, officers and employees of the university were present in the program on the occasion of World Environment Day.
