CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In accordance with the directions of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur, and under the guidance of Principal District Judge and Chairman Manoj Kumar Shrivastava, the third National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be organised on September 12, 2026, at the District Court, Bhopal, and the Tehsil Court, Berasia. To provide accessible, speedy and inclusive justice to litigants, about 62 dedicated benches are being constituted across the district, including at the District Court Bhopal, Tehsil Court Berasia, Family Court, Labour Court and RERA.
At present, a total of 1,64,821 cases of all categories are pending in various courts under Bhopal district. Of these, 10,757 pending compoundable cases suitable for settlement through mutual consent and goodwill have been identified and placed before the Lok Adalat. These mainly include compoundable criminal cases, Section 138 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque bounce), motor accident claim cases, Electricity Act matters, family and matrimonial disputes and various civil cases. In addition, 80,500 pre-litigation cases have also been listed for resolution before disputes reach the court stage. These mainly include matters related to the Electricity Act, bank recovery, water tax, BSNL dues and traffic e-challans.
In line with the state government’s directions to provide relief to the general public, the Electricity Department and the Municipal Corporation will again offer special exemptions and concessions in cases resolved through the Lok Adalat. This public welfare initiative will give citizens an opportunity for easier settlement of their outstanding dues.
District Legal Services Authority Bhopal Secretary Suneet Agrawal said that when court cases are successfully disposed of through the National Lok Adalat, the entire court fee is refunded by the government as per rules. In addition, the amicable conclusion of cases through mutual consent between both parties saves valuable time and money for the litigants.
