CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has made third-party audits mandatory to ensure the quality of all its development projects. For this, the council has constituted an independent quality control and technical audit division. Under this system, the quality of construction work, technical standards and stipulated timelines will be monitored. The council has decided to take the help of reputed technical and research institutions in the country for this work.

NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said the new division will monitor projects of various council departments. Its scope will include work related to road construction, buildings, sewer systems, water supply, electrical systems and information technology. Each project will undergo an independent technical assessment in an effort to ensure that construction is in line with prescribed standards.

To strengthen this system, cooperation will be sought from institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Quality Council of India (QCI) and RITES.

According to the NDMC chairman, there will be no compromise on quality and standards while completing projects within the stipulated time. Examination by independent experts will help identify technical deficiencies in construction work and take corrective steps in time.

The objective of this initiative is to increase transparency and accountability in development works carried out with public funds. At the same time, efforts will be made to improve the quality of projects related to roads, buildings and civic amenities, making infrastructure in the New Delhi area more durable and reliable.
