CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has uncovered an alleged conspiracy to disturb the atmosphere ahead of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert. Police have arrested three accused who were allegedly in contact with people linked to the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). A woman is also among those arrested. It is alleged that the accused wrote pro-Khalistan slogans at two Delhi Metro stations before the concert.
According to police, objectionable slogans were found on 29 October near gate number 1 of Jahangirpuri Metro station and on 30 October on the wall along the stairs of gate number 2 at Shastri Nagar Metro station. The slogans targeted Diljit Dosanjh while supporting SFJ and Khalistan. Police say the activities were intended to create tension before the singer’s event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30 October.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sumeet alias Raftaar, Sumit Kumar alias Kaka and Gurpreet. According to police, Sumit Kumar alias Kaka is the alleged main conspirator in the case. The investigation found that designs and instructions for writing the slogans had been sent to him through an encrypted messaging app. He then involved two of his acquaintances in the task.
Police claim the accused were lured with money in return for carrying out the activity. Some reports have also referred to an alleged deal of Rs 1 lakh and an advance payment of Rs 10,000. However, the financial transaction is still under investigation.
Separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the two incidents. Action has been taken against the accused under laws relating to damage to public property and the Metro. The Special Cell is now investigating the alleged foreign handlers, the source of funding and the entire network.
