CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal. Greed for the wrong things is bad, but if we desire a good life, better health, good jobs and a respectable position in society, that is not wrong. Often, change within us can also come from an external influence. By seeing and understanding better things, we can feel change. To rise to any height, we have to become lighter. We can let go of an old mistake, a wrong thought or an incorrect way of doing things; only then can we move forward.

These remarks were made by motivational guru Rajeev Agarwal, the first speaker of the day’s session, at the closing of the TED Talk at MCU. He told students that there are no manuals for our lives. Often, we decide the manuals of life ourselves. Therefore, we also need to think about life in new ways. How others behave with us is not in our hands. But if we behave properly, people also behave well with us. Therefore, for some good outcomes, we can work on ourselves. By controlling some aspects of ourselves, we can change a lot in our lives. He said that by controlling five things related to ourselves, we can see these changes. He told students that by controlling small things, they can bring major changes in life.

Mouth control: Our harsh words can hurt anyone. People do not like bad words. Therefore, by exercising restraint in speech, we can change a lot. By speaking well, we can make things better. Mood control: A bad mood often spoils our work. If we control our mood, our mind will remain calm and whatever work we do will bring good results. Mind control: He said that by controlling our mind, we can work very well. Focus the mind and give 100 percent input to every task. Teach the mind patience as well. Money control: Control money. Earn it in the right way. Remember that to do good, intentions must be good. Spend your money on good work. Manners control: Our ways of conduct tell anyone about our upbringing. Therefore, always keep your manners good. Be humble, and if words such as please, sorry and thank you are not part of our lives, then we need to think about ourselves. Mobile control: These days, the mobile phone is an important part of our life. Therefore, control the activities carried out on it as well.

In the second session, Rekhi Foundation happiness coach Ritu Pandey Sharma explained the principles and benefits of living with awareness and consciousness. She said that our mind is full of limitless possibilities. Everything we do becomes a habit and also determines the pattern of our behaviour. Through interesting stories, she explained what mindfulness is and how we can protect ourselves from negative thoughts when they arise. By changing our thinking, we can bring change in our personality. If there is life, there will also be problems, and if there are problems, there will also be solutions. Ask yourself: in the rush of life, do we think, reflect or pause before taking any step? If not, we need to take a pause. Instead of reacting to any incident, person or statement, give priority to responding.

She said that all of us want to be happy, but happiness is not a destination; it is a journey, and another name for that journey is mindfulness. Thousands of thoughts are born within us, but we do not know how many of them are useful. She told students that if we are not calm and satisfied from within, then there is certainly some deficiency in our way of living, and in such a situation only mindfulness can protect us. Even the smallest task should be done with complete awareness. Once the waves of our mind are trained for positivity, they will attract good waves from the environment as well. Living with awareness will bring peace to the mind, and when the mind is peaceful, the same peace will be visible in behaviour.
