Thunderstorm Alert Issued Across Eleven Telangana Districts
CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across 11 districts of Telangana as monsoon activity gains momentum in the state. The weather department has advised residents to remain alert, particularly in areas vulnerable to heavy rain, waterlogging, and lightning-related incidents. The alert comes as the southwest monsoon continues its gradual advance across Telangana, bringing increased rainfall activity after a delayed onset.
According to IMD forecasts, several districts are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. Authorities have urged farmers, commuters, and local administrations to take necessary precautions to minimize disruptions and ensure public safety during adverse weather conditions.
The rainfall is expected to provide relief from the intense summer heat that has affected many parts of Telangana in recent weeks. However, meteorologists have also warned that localized heavy showers could lead to temporary flooding in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions in urban centers.
Weather experts are closely monitoring monsoon developments, especially as forecasts indicate that rainfall distribution this season may remain uneven due to the influence of El Niño conditions. Citizens have been advised to follow official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense thunderstorms and lightning activity.
