CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Stroke Day, AIIMS Bhopal organized an awareness program focusing on the identification of stroke and the importance of timely treatment. AIIMS Bhopal’s Executive Director, Prof. Ajay Singh, stated, “Stroke is the third leading cause of morbidity globally. The key to mitigating its impact lies in timely medical care. If a patient reaches the hospital in time, the chances of a positive outcome increase significantly. I urge everyone to spread awareness about stroke treatment in their communities and avoid going to unqualified practitioners or ‘faith healers.’ Timely medical care is crucial for saving lives.”
Prof. Ajay Singh also interacted with stroke patients, who shared their recovery journeys and experiences with the treatment process.
During the event, Director Agreeta Sharma explained the causes of stroke, including high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, and an unhealthy lifestyle. She emphasized that every two minutes, a person dies due to a stroke, making awareness and prevention even more critical.
A skit was also performed during the program, illustrating how to recognize stroke symptoms and the importance of immediate medical intervention. The skit effectively highlighted warning signs such as sudden weakness or numbness, difficulty speaking, and loss of balance, stressing the need to reach the hospital quickly.
A large number of faculty members, residents, nursing staff, and patients participated in the event. The program not only educated the general public but also reinforced AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to improving stroke care and reducing the burden of this serious health issue.
