CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the United States, a woman allegedly attacked two people with a knife within just 20 seconds on Monday in New York City’s famous Times Square. A 32-year-old woman died in the attack, while a 68-year-old man was injured and is reported to be in stable condition.

According to police, the 49-year-old female suspect pulled out two large knives and first attacked the 68-year-old man in the stomach. About 20 seconds later, she also stabbed the 32-year-old woman. Both injured victims were taken to hospital, where the woman was declared dead.

After the incident, police cornered the suspect nearby. Officials tried for about four minutes to persuade her to put down the knives, but she refused to follow orders. According to police, she also threatened officers. Despite the use of a Taser, when she did not stop and moved toward police, officers opened fire. The woman was taken to hospital, where she also died.

Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros. According to officials, she had a history of mental health-related incidents in police records, but no previous arrests had been recorded. In the initial investigation, police have not considered the incident to be linked to terrorism.

The incident took place in a very busy area of Times Square, where a large number of tourists and local residents were present at the time. Police temporarily closed part of the area and began an investigation. Further investigation in the case is continuing, and body-camera footage related to the police action will also be part of the inquiry.
