CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Instructions were issued during the TL meeting to all government departments to promote awareness and dissemination of information about the HPV vaccine being administered to protect women from cervical cancer (cancer of the lower part of the uterus).

During the meeting, District Immunization Officer Dr. Ritesh Rawat provided detailed information about the HPV vaccine and stated that it is being administered free of cost at 18 government hospitals in Bhopal. The vaccine is being given to girls aged 14 to 15 years. Information regarding registration on the U-WIN portal was also shared.

Chief Executive Officer Ila Tiwari instructed the District Education Officer to prepare a line list of all girls aged 14 to 15 years studying in government and private schools and to motivate their parents to ensure vaccination. Schools have been directed to organize meetings to inform parents and students about the benefits of the vaccine.

The Women and Child Development Department has been instructed to facilitate vaccination through Anganwadi workers. The Tribal Affairs Department has been asked to inform girls residing in tribal hostels about cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine and encourage them to get vaccinated.

Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, Dr. Manish Sharma, informed that approximately 27,000 girls aged 14 to 15 years are being vaccinated in Bhopal. As per the Collector’s instructions, all government departments will work in coordination to raise awareness about the benefits of the vaccine.
