CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a significant step towards helping people struggling with tobacco or gutkha addiction, Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) has launched a Tobacco Cessation Clinic. Union Minister of State for Health Pratap Rao Jadhav virtually inaugurated the Tobacco-Free Campaign 2.0 and tobacco cessation clinics across various medical colleges and hospitals in the country, including BMHRC.

The Tobacco Cessation Clinic established at BMHRC will assist individuals who wish to quit tobacco or gutkha addiction. This clinic will operate under the National Tobacco Control Program in the Department of Psychiatry.

BMHRC’s In-Charge Director, Manisha Srivastava, said, “Considering the severe health problems associated with tobacco addiction, this initiative is extremely important. We are committed to providing proper support and assistance to those trying to quit tobacco.” The clinic’s patients will be treated by Dr. Sanjukta Ghosh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Counseling will be provided to individuals who wish to quit tobacco, and medications will be administered based on their needs. A personalized treatment plan will be created according to each patient’s addiction and condition.

BMHRC’s Tobacco Cessation Clinic is part of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 2.0, which aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and provide support to those seeking to quit.
