CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. In view of a proposed political rally and march in the national capital Delhi on Sunday, the traffic police have issued a special traffic advisory. Traffic is likely to be affected in central Delhi and nearby areas in view of the INDIA alliance rally at Ramlila Maidan and the march organised in Hari Nagar. Police have advised motorists to avoid some major routes and use alternative roads.

Around Ramlila Maidan, vehicular movement may be affected on Ajmeri Gate, Delhi Gate, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Asaf Ali Road and nearby roads. Considering the number of people and vehicles expected to take part in the rally, traffic will be diverted to other routes as required. Special arrangements have also been made to regulate parking and vehicular movement around the Maidan.

Due to the proposed march in Hari Nagar, traffic is also expected to be affected in some parts of west Delhi. Police personnel have been deployed on the relevant routes to help control the crowd and keep vehicular movement smooth.

The traffic police have appealed to the public to check the status of routes before starting their journey. Using public transport, especially the Metro, may help avoid congestion and traffic jams. In an emergency, people have been advised to follow the instructions issued by the traffic police.

During the rally and march, traffic management along with security arrangements will remain an important challenge for the police. People have been requested to follow the designated routes and parking rules and avoid going unnecessarily to the affected areas.
