CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh has emphasized that under the ongoing Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign for water conservation and promotion, the improvement of deteriorated gardens and the development of green areas should be prioritized. He instructed the concerned departments to prepare an action plan through mutual coordination and implement the work accordingly. During the monsoon season, large-scale tree plantation will be carried out in Bhopal.
Commissioner Singh chaired a meeting of divisional-level officials. The meeting was attended by CEO of District Panchayat Ila Tiwari, Joint Commissioner of Development Vinod Yadav, and officers from the Forest Department, Municipal Corporation, Capital Project Authority, and other concerned departments.
Commissioner Singh directed that all gardens and government lands in urban Bhopal suitable for plantation should be identified, and a detailed plan for their development and afforestation should be prepared immediately. Along with planting, a maintenance strategy must also be formulated. The Forest Department will assist in geo-tagging the gardens.
In the meeting, it was informed that Bhopal city has around 200 gardens—163 under the Municipal Corporation, 24 under the Capital Project, 12 under the Forest Department, and 1 under Smart City. Additionally, numerous gardens exist in private colonies, which are maintained by respective residential committees.
A Municipal Corporation official informed that before the onset of rains, large-scale plantation will be carried out at five sites including Kaliyasot within the Bhopal Municipal limits, with a target of planting around 1.5 lakh saplings. Each zone under the Municipal Corporation will plant 5,000 saplings. The Divisional Commissioner has also directed that tree plantation be carried out on the lands identified by the Bhopal Development Authority.
