CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a tree plantation programme was organized at Sant Hirdaram Girls College under the joint aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Nature Club.

The objective of the programme was to increase awareness among students about environmental protection and sustainable development. Shade-giving and fruit-bearing saplings were planted on the college campus, and all participants pledged to care for and protect the plants.

Along with the tree plantation programme, a poster-making competition on environmental awareness was also organized for NCC cadets. Through their creativity, the cadets effectively presented the importance of nature conservation, pollution control and a green future.

The competition results were as follows: First place – Kumkum Lavanshi, second place – Nisha, and third place – Ojasvi.

College Principal Dalima Parwani, faculty members, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and members of the Nature Club were present during the programme. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dalima Parwani said that tree plantation is not merely a one-day activity, but a sustained commitment to ensuring a clean, green and healthy environment for future generations.

The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge to plant more and more trees and make an active contribution to environmental protection.
