CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the direction of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur, and under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge/Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal, Manoj Kumar Shrivastava, the District Legal Services Authority, Bhopal, led by Secretary Sunit Agrawal, successfully organised a tree plantation programme at Satya Sai Law College under the Panch-J campaign.
District Legal Aid Officer Muhammad Jilani participated in the programme. From the college, Dr. Pratibha Singh, Director; Dr. Anju Bajpeyi, Principal, Satya Sai Law College for Women; and Dr. Renu Mishra, Principal, Satya Sai College for Women, along with faculty members and a large number of law students, took part enthusiastically.
Around 100 saplings of various species were planted during the programme. On the occasion, all participants pledged not only to plant saplings but also to protect and nurture them.
Secretary Sunit Agrawal said that climate change, rising temperatures, environmental pollution and shrinking forest cover have become serious challenges before all humanity. The effective solution to these challenges lies in large-scale tree plantation and the protection of planted saplings, he said. Trees not only maintain environmental balance but also play an important role in absorbing carbon dioxide to reduce global warming, providing life-giving air or oxygen, regulating the rainfall cycle, preserving groundwater levels and protecting biodiversity. If every citizen resolves to plant and protect at least one sapling every year, a clean, green and healthy environment can be provided to future generations, he said.
He called upon the students present to make environmental protection a mass movement, plant more trees and treat the regular care of planted saplings as their social and moral responsibility.
During the programme, information was also provided on free legal aid, Lok Adalat and legal awareness programmes run by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority. Students were told that the Legal Services Authority is continuously working to provide free legal aid to weaker and disadvantaged sections of society, and that its main objective is to ensure simple and equal access to justice for every citizen.
At the end of the programme, all those present took a pledge to continue tree plantation and care for saplings for environmental protection, climate balance, building a Green India and conserving nature.
