CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Washington. US President Donald Trump met top executives of leading artificial intelligence companies at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting discussed rapidly developing AI technology, safety standards and America’s technological lead. Trump used the term “super intelligence” for artificial intelligence and announced a voluntary agreement on it.
The agreement was signed by six leading technology executives. They included Google’s Sundar Pichai, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, xAI’s Elon Musk and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang. The agreement emphasises safeguards such as strong internal controls and independent monitoring for AI systems. Trump said companies would have to focus on safety along with the development of AI. The agreement is not legally binding and has been presented as a voluntary commitment. Trump described it as a kind of “constitution” and stressed self-regulation by companies.
Technological competition between the US and China over AI also remains a major subject of discussion. Trump has earlier said that the US must stay ahead of China in the AI sector. AI was also discussed recently at a meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the two countries agreed to start a dialogue on “super intelligence”.
