He said that if the Republican Party retains control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterm elections to be held in November, every adult citizen in the country will receive a payment of $5,000. Trump described it as a “Trump Dividend.”
Speaking at the Republican Party’s midterm convention, Trump said the payment would be made on the basis of America’s strong economic position and the success of his government. However, he did not provide details on how the plan would be implemented or where the funds for it would come from. He only laid down the condition that the amount received should be spent within the United States.
According to reports, the plan, estimated to cost between about $1.2 trillion and $1.35 trillion, may require approval from Congress. Vice President J.D. Vance has indicated that wealthy Americans could be excluded from the payment and that revenue from tariffs could be used. However, current tariff income is not considered sufficient to fund such a large payout.
