The Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute is organising a two-week Faculty Development Programme for young social science faculty members. Sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, the programme will be held in Bhopal from December 9 to 20. There are a total of 30 seats, and only regular faculty members can apply. Interested faculty members may apply by October 30.
Meaningful research in social sciences is not possible without a deep understanding of Indian society, culture and knowledge. Keeping this need in view, the programme will place special emphasis on linking the Indian knowledge tradition with research, while promoting the effective use of scientific research techniques. This will help social science teachers and researchers develop the skills required for quality research based on Indian contexts, and will support improvements in the quality of research and academic standards in higher education.
Institute director Mukesh Kumar Mishra said the programme is useful for capacity building among social science faculty members. He said young faculty members will be trained in research methodologies with the National Education Policy 2020 and the Indian knowledge tradition at the centre. The Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute is an institute recognised by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of Education, Government of India. It has also been designated as a centre under the Indian Knowledge Systems Division of the Ministry of Education. In line with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, the institute plays an important role in promoting and integrating the Indian knowledge tradition in higher education and research.
