CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uddhav Thackeray and his family’s trip to Delhi is a yatra to surrender himself and his Shiv Sena before the Congress high command, criticized Sanjay Nirupam, a former MP and senior leader of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Tuesday.
Addressing media at the party office in Mumbai, Nirupam said that Uddhav has big hopes of becoming the CM again but the reality is that they won’t come to power again. In order to make himself an acceptable face for the INDIA alliance parties, Uddhav will kneel down himself before the Congress high command, he said.
There was a time when all big leaders from across parties used knock on the doors of Matoshree in order to meet Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray. But now the time has come that Uddhav has to make a trip to Delhi, said Nirupam.
“His party calls it political Samvad Yatra, but in reality this is a political surrender yatra,” mocked Nirupam who was an MP from Shiv Sena earlier. In fact, Nirupam began his political career from Shiv Sena as he was the editor of the Hindi edition of Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece and was very close to Uddhav before he jumped ship to join Congress.
Nirupam further said that there were at least a dozen leaders within the Maha Vikas Aghadi who are dreaming of becoming the CM. “There is Uddhav Thackeray, then there is Aditya Thackeray’s mother who wants Aditya to become CM. From Congress, state president Nana Patole and senior leader Balasaheb Thorat want to be CM. I also heard that Sharad Pawar has told Anil Deshmukh that if Supriya Sule doesn’t become CM, he will make Deshmukh the CM. Hence Uddhav Thackeray has gone to Delhi to make himself acceptable to all the INDIA alliance parties,” Nirupam said.
