CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The orientation program for newly enrolled volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of UIT RGPV was successfully conducted on the UIT campus. Guidance during the program was provided by Prof. Anant Saxena (Coordinator, NSS Barkatullah University), Dr. Shashiranjan Akela (Coordinator, NSS-NCC, UIT RGPV), and Dr. Rahul Parihar (Co-Coordinator, NSS BU).

The program began with the orientation introduction delivered by NSS officer Avinash Rai, while the guests were welcomed by NSS Assistant Program Officers Ritu Ke Rajan and Mehtab Singh.

Addressing the NSS volunteers, Prof. Anant Saxena emphasized that active participation in NSS activities contributes to the overall development of students’ personalities and provides them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity. Dr. Shashiranjan Akela highlighted that the National Education Policy considers both curricular and extracurricular activities as an integral part of education. He added that today’s students should develop as responsible citizens, uphold their duties toward society and the nation, and use their knowledge for the welfare of the community. NSS also plays a significant role in promoting social service through education, fostering social harmony, and creating awareness about values and environmental protection.

Director Dr. Rahul Parihar encouraged NSS volunteers to maintain campus cleanliness, participate in voluntary labor (Shramdan), blood donation drives, and other sanitation campaigns. He explained that the annual NSS camps help volunteers understand their environment better while also providing them opportunities for personal growth.

The program concluded with the national anthem. Volunteers present at the event were also given practical exercises in various NSS activities to familiarize them with their responsibilities.
