CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Washington. Amid the continuing war with Russia, the dispute over Starlink, the satellite internet service used in Ukraine’s military communications system, has deepened. US President Donald Trump has said that if problems persist over Starlink services in Ukraine, he will speak to SpaceX chief Elon Musk. Ukrainian officials have reported that restrictions on service speed remain in place, while Trump had earlier claimed that the service had been restored.
Trump says he will seek a solution if there is a problem. Speaking to reporters at the White House on October 23, Trump said he had not spoken to Musk on the issue, but would contact him if the problem had not been resolved. He said he had received information that the service had been fixed. He also defended Musk, describing him as an impartial person. Earlier, on October 22, Trump had said Ukraine’s Starlink service had been restored. However, Ukrainian officials and soldiers said problems related to service speed and availability had not been fully resolved.
Why is Starlink important for Ukraine? SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service has been an important part of Ukraine’s communications system during the war. It is used for contact between military units, drone operations and other military activities. Limits on service speed or network disruption could affect the Ukrainian army’s communications capacity and drone operations. Starshield is also being mentioned in this dispute along with Starlink. Starshield is a separate system developed by SpaceX for government and military requirements. It would not be correct to treat the two services as the same.
Dispute over who imposed the restrictions. Questions have also been raised in the United States over the decision to impose restrictions on Starlink services. Media reports claimed that Musk had ordered the speed of the service used for military purposes to be limited. However, this claim has not been independently confirmed. Different statements have emerged over the roles of the US administration and SpaceX. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also said that service speed has not been fully restored. In this situation, attention will remain on a possible conversation between Trump and Musk. For now, there is no independent confirmation that the service has fully returned to normal.
